Nature Interpretation Team Earns Banner in State CDE

Members of the Miami East-MVCTC FFA recently competed in the Ohio FFA State Nature Interpretation Career Development Event hosted by Hocking College in Nelsonville. Members of the team were Haley Barnes, Hunter Barnes, Madalyn Barnes, Wyatt Black, Kinsley Courtright, and Cora Moore. The team placed third in the state and earned a banner for the agriculture classroom. The top placing individual from Miami East was Wyatt Black who placed 13 out of 109 individuals.

The competition consisted of completing practicums related to stream quality, proper handling of problem plants and animals, and attracting desired wildlife. Additionally, contestants took a knowledge test and identified mammals, birds, plants, herptiles, and equipment common in natural resources.

A previous competition that the team participated in was the Miami Trace Invitational on March 8. Team members competing were Haley Barnes, Hunter Barnes, and Madalyn Barnes. The team placed second. The highest individual from Miami East was Haley Barnes who placed second overall.
