State FFA Evaluations Held
The Ohio FFA Evaluations were recently held with several members of the Miami East-MVCTC FFA Chapter competing in various competitions. Members became eligible for State Evaluations by placing at District Evaluations in February and March.
State FFA Degrees – Seniors Haley Barnes, Hale Beck, Blake Boggess, Adrien Comer, Abigail Maxson, Connor Maxson, Cora Moore, Wesley Penny, and Juniors Kinsley Courtright and Jenna Taylor, submitted applications to receive the State FFA Degree. Their applications were approved, and they will receive their Degrees in May at the State FFA Convention.
Star State FFA Degree Award – Wyatt Black is a finalist in the Star State in Agribusiness for his farm machinery repair and maintenance business. He offers repair and maintenance services to his customers.
American FFA Degrees – Graduates Fletcher Harris, Alaina Helsinger, Reagan Howell, Kyle Larson, Jadyn Maingi, Elisabeth Norman, and Ty Roeth applied to receive the American FFA Degree. Their applications were reviewed and will now be submitted to the National FFA Organization. If approved by National FFA they will receive their degree at the National FFA Convention in October.
Proficiency Awards – Members applied for a district and state proficiency award. They were recognized for having an outstanding Supervised Agricultural Experience program in one of 47 areas. Applicants just received notice of interviews for being Top 4 in the State candidates. They will now be interviewed by an industry panel of judges and be recognized at the State FFA Convention.
Agriculture Mechanics Repair and Maintenance Entrepreneurship – Wyatt Black has a machinery repair business in which he builds and repairs equipment then markets them through social media.
Agriculture Mechanics Repair and Maintenance Placement – Elisabeth Norman provides repair and maintenance on planter meters and other farm equipment at local farm equipment supplier. She welds and rewires equipment as needed.
Diversified Horticulture Production – Haley Barnes raises and markets Chrysanthemums flowers in the fall. She also had job placement at a local plant store where she was responsible for fertilizing and watering.
Organic Agriculture – Kat Niswonger has a job placement at a local organic dairy farm where she is responsible for milking cows, feeding calves, and loading the delivery truck for herd share members.
Swine Production Entrepreneurship – Rhylee Eichhorn raises and markets Duroc and Tamworth breeding and prospect market pigs to fellow breeders and junior fair exhibitors. She created her own vaccination and feeding program.
Chapter Awards – The Miami East-MVCTC Chapter was named a Gold Rated and Top 10 Chapter in the state and a Top 10 in the areas of Growing Leaders, Building Communities, and Strengthening Agriculture. Chapter members will present information through a virtual interview and are awaiting final placings.
