Monarch Butterfly

Last year's 4th graders worked hard to create a National Monarch Waystation. They worked so hard talking to experts, collecting research and data, and dreaming about creating a pollinator garden area here at Miami East. Over the winter, the students grew milkweed plants, as well as other plants pollinators such as monarch butterflies need to survive. These plants and other seeds were placed in the garden plots to the north of the elementary on the last day of school. Look how the gardens have grown! The gardens are a success, with plenty of flowers, milkweed, other plants, and butterflies fluttering around! The gardens met the criteria to be on the National Monarch Waystation registry. We are site number 48910! We appreciate all of the hard work from our teachers and students who made this possible.
